Daily Life in medieval Europe

The daily live in medieval Europe has a lot of stuff to do with religion. People always went to church in those times.  Religion was a important part of every moment of a persons life.

Church was maybe the biggest thing in medieval Europe because it was the time they all would get together and not fight but talk about their beliefs with family members and other people

Were there Mote's around the Castle?

What is a mote?  A mote is a lake like river or pond around a castle. Not all castles had mote's but they were very helpful, especially when the castle is being attacked by enemies.  Mote's could sometimes have things in them so if somebody swam through they would get eaten.

Mote's had bridges that could sometimes be lifted up so when they were being attacked the enemy couldn't get in.  The bridges were also there so they could get out to trade or to go attack another enemy or even to travel.

What did the Armor Cover on the Army that is Defending the Castle?

The army's body armor sometimes covered their whole body and sometimes only covered little parts of the body.  Sometimes the armor didn't cover the whole body.  The armor had metal it was mad from and was very heavy.  sometimes they would even out armor on the horses so the horses wouldn't get hurt and then they fall of the horse and get hurt.  As shown in the picture to the right, there is armor on the horse. ------------------------->

The army sometimes wore two layers of the armor for extra protection.  The armor got you very hot when you are in it. The reason it was hot is because it is heavy, its metal and it is usually hot outside.

What Weapons did the Army use to Defend the Castle

The  warriors weapons were very effective for their time. They had many weapons. The weapons they used were long bow with arrow, crossbows, Ax's, shield and sword, and they also used daggers.  The knights used a spear like weapon that's called a lance. The most effective weapon was the bow with steel tip arrows.

The army guarded the castle with their life. They guarded the castles because they believed that there were war gods in the palace that  helped them during war.  The war lords were like kings to the army and palace.

How the Medieval Castles were Built

The castles were built by the men’s muscle power. They had no power tools back then and they did almost everything by hand.  The black smiths made the tools that the men used. The castle was made for the military leaders control. I thought it was just to live in. What did you think it was for?

Castles ended up being might stone, huge fortress. The castle had an army to protect the castle. Castles were sometimes built with walls 12 feet in width, and the walls were really high.  The army also helped build the castle.  There were about 30 blacksmiths, 400 mason, 2000 laborers, including stone breakers and well diggers.
